Why I joined Digital Futures – Lord Ed Vaizey

I’m delighted to be joining Digital Futures as the Chairman of their advisory board. I am very excited by the opportunity to join a dynamic team of people who are looking to address a vital problem – the need to provide the most relevant and up-to-date digital skills that UK businesses and our economy need.

Digital Futures are on a mission to create opportunity for talented young men and women from all backgrounds, especially those who have been overlooked. This is a mission that aligns to my values and to some of the work I did when I was the Minister for Technology.

Led by their inspiring CEO, Scott Vincent, the team at Digital Futures are working at a fast pace to bring their vision to life and to contribute something back to the rebuild of the economy as we emerge from the pandemic. Their model of providing both training and industry placement will benefit both individuals in their pursuit of sustainable employment and industry in the pursuit of talent to support the growing demand for tech skills.

My role at Digital Futures will be to provide strategic advice and insight to the firm’s leadership team, to help to manage institutional relationships and to help to inspire the future leaders coming through the Academy programme. Additionally, I will be building and leading a group of advisors who will ultimately support the lofty ambitions of this organisation in the relentless pursuit of their goal – to build diverse and highly-skilled tech teams, to challenge the status quo on inclusion and to support their industry partners to achieve their digital goals.

An exciting road ahead, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and meeting some of our Software Engineers and Data Scientists who have already begun their journey with Digital Futures.
